Overview
Scholar Hub is a voice-based AI tutor for adult learners. You ask a question out loud and the app answers with a spoken, AI-generated explanation. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the app you agree to this policy.
Who Can Use Scholar Hub
Scholar Hub is intended for people aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has given us information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name and email address, which you give us when you create an account
- A password, handled by Firebase Authentication. We cannot see it
- A unique account ID and a generated avatar seed
Voice Data
- What we collect: audio of your question when you use the microphone
- How we use it: to turn your speech into text so we can answer. The audio is sent to Google's speech-to-text service
- Storage: we do not keep your recordings. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers
- Deletion: the recording is deleted from your device after processing
Your Questions and AI Answers
- The text of your question is sent to our server and to Google's AI service (Gemini) to generate an answer, and the answer is read to you using Google's text-to-speech service
- We do not store the text of your questions or the answers on our servers. We keep only a short topic label for each answer (for example "verb tenses"), described below
Learning Progress
The Progress tab shows your practice streak, the days you were active, how many questions you have asked in each subject, badges you have earned, and the short topic labels mentioned above. This is stored with your account and is not shown to other users.
Practice Times
The hour of day (in your local time) at which you ask each question, kept as a simple count per hour. We use it only to choose when to send your optional daily reminder.
Subscription and Purchase Information
- Your plan (Free, Basic, Premium or Pro), its start date, status and renewal dates
- Product identifiers and purchase verification tokens from Google Play or the Apple App Store, used only to check your purchase
- Your monthly question allowance ("connects") and how many you have left
Payments are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your payment card number, billing address or other financial details.
Advertising Information
Free-plan users see ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, approximate location (derived from your IP address), the app interactions needed to deliver ads, and diagnostic information. See "Advertising" below.
Technical Information
Device type and operating system version, used to keep the app working.
What We Don't Collect
- Your precise location
- Photos, videos or files from your device
- Your contacts
- Your payment card details
- Social media information
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide the tutor: understand your questions and answer them
- Run your account, subscription and monthly allowance
- Show your learning progress and send the daily reminder you choose
- Show ads to free-plan users and give rewards for watching them
- Keep the app secure, prevent abuse and fix problems
- Meet legal obligations
AI-Generated Content
Answers are generated by artificial intelligence, so they can occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Please check anything important (for example medical, legal, financial or exam-critical information) with a reliable source. Do not include sensitive personal information in your questions.
Your questions are processed by Google's AI services under Google's terms and privacy policy.
Advertising
- Free plan: Scholar Hub shows banner ads and occasional full-screen ads. Paid plans do not show these ads.
- Rewarded ads: when you run out of questions you may choose to watch a short ad to earn more. When you do, your account ID is sent to Google AdMob so that Google can confirm you watched the ad, and our server then adds the reward.
- Your choices: you can limit ad personalisation or reset your advertising ID in your device settings (Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking). Where the law requires it, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads.
- We do not sell your personal information. Ad data is collected by Google under Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Daily Practice Reminders
If you allow notifications, the app schedules one reminder per day on your device, at roughly the time you usually practise. These are local notifications created on your device. They are not sent from our servers and contain no advertising. The text may include your first name and your current streak. You can turn reminders off at any time in the Profile tab or in your device's notification settings.

Third-Party Services
Scholar Hub relies on these providers to operate:
- Google Play and the Apple App Store: app distribution, purchases and subscription management
- Firebase (Google Cloud): sign-in, secure data storage and the servers that run the app
- Google Cloud Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech: turning your voice into text and our answers into speech
- Google Gemini: generating answers

Their privacy policies apply to the data they handle:
- Google and Firebase: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Data Security
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and Firebase encrypts stored data at rest
- Account access is protected by Firebase Authentication
- Access to stored data is limited to what is needed to run the service
- No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security
Data Retention
- Voice recordings: not kept; deleted after processing
- Questions and answers: not stored by us
- Account details, learning progress, practice times and your question allowance: kept until you delete your account
- Subscription and purchase records: kept as required by law and payment processors (typically up to 7 years for tax and accounting)
- Ad reward records (the daily reward counter and verification records): deleted when you delete your account
Deleting Your Account and Data
You can delete your account at any time:
- Open the Profile tab and tap your profile card at the top
- Tap Delete Account and confirm with your password
This deletes your profile, learning progress and practice times, and your sign-in. Records we must keep by law (such as purchase records) may be retained. Active subscriptions are not cancelled automatically, so cancel them in Google Play or the App Store as well.
If you cannot use the app, email cocoapp2025.dev@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account" from the address registered to your account. We will delete your data within 30 days.

- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information
- Receive your data in a portable format
